Connection Issues
Q: The app says "Connected", but nothing types on my computer.
Please check two things:
- Make sure your mouse cursor is clicked inside a text box (like Notepad or Excel) on your computer.
- Ensure your computer's keyboard input method is set to English (US). Some IMEs may block the simulated input.
Q: The mobile app cannot find my computer.
Ensure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. Guest networks often block device-to-device communication. Also, check if your computer's firewall is blocking the PrismScan port (default: 8080).
General Questions
Q: Is my data safe?
Yes. The data transfer happens entirely within your local Wi-Fi network. We do not upload your scanned content to any cloud server.
Q: Can I remove the ads?
Yes, you can purchase the "Pro Version" inside the mobile app to remove all advertisements and support future development.
Q: What barcode formats are supported?
PrismScan supports all major formats including QR Code, Data Matrix, UPC-A, UPC-E, EAN-8, EAN-13, Code 39, Code 93, Code 128, Codabar, and ITF.
